So....my first post. Kinda exciting, right? Not exactly - I am such a perfectionist, I expect everything I do to be PERFECT. Which in this case, includes my blog. I have stressed over creating this blog for weeks now, deciding what angle I want to go with, how I am going to design it, and what I am going to write. And then there is my fretting over my lack of photography skills, which plays a HUGE part in presenting my product to my customers! I finally came to the conclusion that I had better just jump right in and just get started...and be myself!
...so now here I am. Lets just start at the beginning...the beginning does excite me.
I have always enjoyed baking. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, muffins, breads...I love to try new recipes, and work on old ones. And I am naturally artistic, creating is in my nature. I have always been drawn to wanting to learn how to decorate cakes for special occasions, and to have everyone 'ooh' and 'ahh' my presented masterpiece. Being a perfectionist, I would be lying if I said I didn't sometimes (harshly) critique some of the work I have seen at the supermarket bakeries, even at weddings! I dabbled in small birthday cakes, the occasional cupcake, but I was missing something. The know-how to create my masterpiece! I studies Food Network shows like Challenge and Cupcake Wars, and I knew I could be as good one day, that I WOULD be as good. I had talked about wanting to take cake decorating classes for about a year, and found that Michaels and Hobby Lobby offered classes through Wilton. Honestly, I thought that would be kinda cheesy going through Michaels, but that's just me...and yet I was too lazy to attend Culinary Arts school. Well, last year for Christmas, Lane (my husband) surprised me with classes at Cake Crafts. Ooh, was I excited! I got registered, and the rest is history!
So whats my next step? Practice, practice, practice! I am developing my own business, specializing in cupcakes and special occasion cakes. I am so excited for what is in store for me. Which is lots of work, pounds of frosting and lots of trial and error until perfection is achieved!
You are amazingly talented and I know you and your business will go far! Good luck lady!
